Durational Postcard Painting Project
Postcard No.04 in my PoMo Flow Postcard project was the beginning of a durational painting project in which paintings consisting of dry pigment are sent through the mail to various recipients. The handling and delivery of the paintings create small changes to the dry pigment and affect the visual appearance of the painting. The recipient holds on to the painting for 1 month and then mails it to someone they believe will participate in the project. Each participant is asked to email photos documenting the arrival and changes that happen over their time in possession of the painting. After a year the last recipient is asked to send the painting back to its point of origin. Five paintings were sent out in various directions with instructions. Time will be the judge of the success of this project.
